AbstractPhoto is Liz Tainsh, a photographic and tape/slide artist currently working in Edinburgh. Her work involves the creation of still images for exhibition and commission, as well as animated slide sequences for projection as part of live performance. She also teaches photography and tape/slide on a variety of arts projects within the community and at university level.1 Here on the AbstractPhoto website Liz is exhibiting examples from two areas of her portfolio. Walled Garden is a series of abstract colour photographs of an organic nature with fruits, leaves and flowers as the subjects. The techniques involved lend an almost scientific quality to the work, the plants becoming the focus of an intimate microscopic study; this encourages the viewer to see them as more than simply passive objects of beauty. Fisheye Portraits illustrates some of Liz's more informal photography; these are black and white prints, some of which have been hand-tinted.
